Designing an Automotive-Grade DPF Controller PCB

The Challenge

The client needed a professional to design a controller for the diesel particulate filter (DPF) in diesel vehicles. It had to be built from automotive-standard components, and a design is only useful if its parts can actually be bought.

What We Did

  • Created the complete schematic
  • Handled component placement and the full PCB layout
  • Used automotive-grade components throughout
  • Selected parts that were in stock
  • When a key part, the OBD-II connector, wasn't available, we found a source and gave it to the client

The Result

The client fabricated the PCB from our files. He then returned with a second project, a dual OBD-II port design.
